Ah, well. I can only be good at so many things.
Lately, life has consisted of work, getting up early, more work, budgeting, working harder, crying myself to sleep at night, completing work, wishing I had a life, and making sure I get as much work done as possible.
Hyelm is miserable and cold; I've moved rooms (for the third time since I've lived here) to the third floor, where internet access is only available in the freezing stairwell landing, and sometimes not even then. Many of our ranks have left - Yves, Ozzy, Joe, Helen, Bea, among others - and a new influx of students and wanderers have moved in. I haven't met any of them as I don't especially care, although I did meet an American kid from North Carolina who is getting his Masters, like most students here, in International Relations. But that's about it.
Winter in London is cold and windy; this week has only given us two beautifully sunny days, but they're windy as fuck. Thanks, weather. When I wake up in the morning and see the sun, it makes me miss Idaho and summer sunshine. More than anything, I want to be in the hot dry heat of the Boise desert - but for that, I'll have to wait at least five more months.
Also, I'm bummed to be missing out on Sasquatch! this year. The line-up includes Vampire Weekend. Poo :(
Vix and Danny contributed to my West End musical theater experience by taking me to see Avenue Q at the Geilgud Theatre. So good! It was hysterical, and it was a really great night.
Well, that's about all there is to say for now. Today I went on a small walk down toward the Heath, got a hot chocolate from a small cafe with Sam, and bought the Complete Works of Shakespeare, three Bronte novels, and Sense and Sensibility for £8.
As it seems, my Friday night will not be spent in a busy club but instead on my duvet, on the floor of my room with one Miss Jane Eyre. And, as Vix lovingly told me, "looking like a fly... with lovely in-turned knees".
xoxo
